Victoria Spruance, PhD, CLCP
Dr. Victoria Spruance is a Certified Life Care Planner with a deep foundation in neuroscience and a career dedicated to advancing care for individuals with complex medical needs. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Drexel University College of Medicine, where her doctoral research focused on developing stem cell-based therapeutics for spinal cord injury. She earned her BS in Biology with a minor in Spanish from the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude and cementing her status as a life-long Gator fan.
Following her PhD, Dr. Spruance was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow and completed her fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Office of Science and Data Policy at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She remained at NIH after fellowship, accepting the role of Scientific Program Director at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Here, she led grant programs in neuroscience and science education, encompassing a portfolio that exceeded $120M. Her work during this time earned recognition in the form of multiple awards, including the NCCIH Director’s Award and the NIDDK Director’s Award for outstanding service.
Motivated by a desire to work more directly with individuals living with disability, Dr. Spruance transitioned into the field of life care planning. She completed her training through the Institute of Rehabilitation Education and Training and is certified by the International Commission on Health Care Certification (ICHCC). She now brings a unique combination of scientific training and experience in health research administration to Spruance & Associates, where she specializes in life care planning for individuals with neurotrauma and other catastrophic injuries. She is an active member of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP).
