T. Scott Smith, PhD, LRC, CRC, CLCP

Dr. T. Scott Smith is a Certified Life Care Planner, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and Louisiana Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor with more than 30 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability evaluation, life care planning, education, and forensic consultation.

He earned a PhD and MS in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University–Commerce, an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Alabama, and a BS in Psychology from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. His professional background includes extensive work as a vocational consultant and expert witness, service as Rehabilitation Director of the Acadiana Brain Injury Center, and more than a decade on the faculty of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses related to disability, career development, psychology, research, and statistics.

Dr. Smith has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 1992, a Certified Life Care Planner since 2012, and a Louisiana Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor since 1995. His life care planning work integrates medical, rehabilitative, functional, educational, and vocational information to evaluate the long-term needs and associated costs of individuals with significant injuries and disabilities. He is the author of five professional books and numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing rehabilitation, disability, vocational assessment, life care planning, human factors, and related topics. His scholarly work in life care planning has included research on life expectancy methodology and the economic, psychological, vocational, and long-term care implications of serious medical conditions.
